History of Eastern Province

The Eastern Province of Sri Lanka is home to several ancient Buddhist sites, reflecting its historical significance in the spread of Buddhism. Notable among these is the Seruwila Mangala Raja Maha Vihara, a revered Buddhist temple believed to enshrine a relic of the Buddha.
