Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Eastern Province, head west towards Kandy. Use the A6 road which connects to the A1. Follow the signs leading to Kandy, which is approximately a 2 to 3-hour drive depending on traffic. As you approach Kandy, look for signs directing you to the city center. Once in Kandy, follow the signs for 'Sri Dalada Maligawa' which will guide you to the temple area. Be prepared to pay for parking near the temple, which may cost around LKR 100-200.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  If traveling by bus, locate a bus terminal in your area within the Eastern Province. Board a bus heading to Kandy; this may take 3 to 4 hours. Buses frequently run from cities such as Trincomalee and Batticaloa to Kandy. Ensure you ask the conductor to let you know when to disembark at the Kandy bus station. From there, you can either walk to Sri Dalada Maligawa, which is about a 15-minute walk, or take a tuk-tuk for around LKR 200-300.

• Taxi

  For a more comfortable option, consider hiring a taxi from within the Eastern Province. The journey to Kandy will take about 2 to 3 hours. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which can range from LKR 4000 to 6000 depending on your starting point. Once in Kandy, the driver can take you directly to Sri Dalada Maligawa.
