Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Trincomalee or Batticaloa. Head to the A4 highway (also known as the Trincomalee-Batticaloa road). Continue along the A4 until you reach the turn-off for Kayankerni, which is approximately 28 km from Batticaloa. Follow the signs towards Kayankerni and once in the town, look for Vattavan East. The historical landmark is located at the coordinates (7.9653306, 81.5322149). Parking is generally available near the site.
Public Transportation
From Batticaloa, take a bus heading towards Trincomalee and ask the driver to drop you off at Kayankerni. The bus ride typically takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour and costs approximately 50 LKR. Once you arrive in Kayankerni, you can either walk to Vattavan East, which is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop, or hire a tuk-tuk for a small fare (around 150 LKR). Make sure to have some local currency available for the tuk-tuk ride.
