Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Galle Fort, head east on Hospital Street towards the Colombo Road (A2). Turn left onto Colombo Road and walk straight for about 1.5 km until you reach a major intersection. At the intersection, continue straight onto the Ahungalla Road (B2) and follow this road for approximately 7 km. Keep an eye out for signs to Ahungalla. Once in Ahungalla, look for the Kothduwa Temple signs. The temple will be located on your left side as you approach.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From Galle Fort, you can easily find a tuk-tuk by heading to the main road (Colombo Road). Negotiate the fare with the driver (it should be around 500-800 LKR). Ask the driver to take you to Kothduwa Rajamaha Viharaya in Ahungalla. The journey will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will drop you right near the temple.

  • Public Bus

    From the Galle bus station, look for buses heading towards Ahungalla. The bus ride will cost approximately 50 LKR and take around 30-40 minutes. Make sure to inform the conductor that you want to get off at Kothduwa Temple. The bus will drop you off near a main road, from where you might need to walk about 10 minutes, following the signs to the temple.
