  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start from the main city center of Hambantota. Head north on the A2 road towards Wellawaya. After approximately 2 kilometers, look for the turnoff onto Lewaya Road (5 Lewaya Rd). Follow this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the Red Sand Beach, which will be on your left. There is usually parking available nearby.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Red Sand Beach via public transportation, take a local bus from Hambantota bus station heading towards Wellawaya. Ensure to inform the driver you want to get off at Lewaya Road. After about a 10-15 minute ride, disembark at the nearest stop to Lewaya Road. From there, you can either walk approximately 1 kilometer down Lewaya Road towards the beach, or you may be able to catch a tuk-tuk for a small fee (around 200 LKR).

  • Tuk-Tuk

    For a more direct route, hire a tuk-tuk from any location in Hambantota. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Red Sand Beach on Lewaya Road. The cost should range from 300 to 500 LKR depending on your starting point and time of day. The ride typically takes about 15-20 minutes.
