Getting There

Tuk-Tuk
From central Hikkaduwa, head towards the main road (Galle Road). You can easily find a tuk-tuk by waving one down or asking at your hotel. Inform the driver that you want to go to Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. The driver will take you along the Galle Road, and then turn onto a local road leading directly to the reserve. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!

Bus
Walk to the nearest bus stop on Galle Road in Hikkaduwa. Catch a bus heading towards Matara or Deniyaya. Once you are on the bus, inform the conductor that you want to get off at the Sinharaja entrance. You may need to adjust your journey based on the bus schedule, but the ride will take around 1 hour. After getting off, it will be a short walk to the entrance of the Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the return trip!

Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Hikkaduwa. Make your way to Galle Road and head towards the direction of Deniyaya. The ride will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Follow the signs that lead to Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The route offers beautiful views of the countryside, so take your time and enjoy the ride!
