Getting There

  • Car

    From Horton Plains National Park, head south on the A26 road towards Nuwara Eliya. Continue for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the junction with the B199 road. Turn left onto the B199 road and continue for about 18 kilometers. You will pass through beautiful countryside and small towns. Keep an eye out for signs to Pinnawala. The Pinnawala Zoo is located on your right at the address 79WP+JQ4, B199, Rambukkana. The total driving distance is around 30 kilometers and may take about 50 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Pinnawala Zoo from Horton Plains National Park using public transportation, you will first need to return to Nuwara Eliya. Take a bus from Horton Plains to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 30 minutes). Once in Nuwara Eliya, you can catch a bus heading towards Rambukkana. Buses run frequently, and you should look for the one that stops near Pinnawala. The bus journey from Nuwara Eliya to Rambukkana will take around 1.5 hours. After arriving in Rambukkana, you can either walk or take a tuk-tuk to the zoo, which is about 5 kilometers away and should cost around 300 LKR for the tuk-tuk ride.
