Walking
If you are starting from Jaffna Fort, walk towards the main road (Kandy Road) and head south. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with Hospital Road. Turn left onto Hospital Road and walk until you reach the traffic lights. Continue straight past the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on your right. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will see a sign for Nallur Sivan Kovil. The temple is located about 500 meters further down the road on your left. Look for the distinctive architecture of the temple as you approach.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from any local shop in Jaffna. From Jaffna Fort, head south on Kandy Road for about 1.5 kilometers. At the junction with Hospital Road, turn left. Continue cycling straight for about 1 kilometer, passing the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. When you see the sign for Nallur Sivan Kovil, keep going for another 500 meters. The temple will be on your left. Make sure to park your bicycle securely before entering the temple.
Tuk-Tuk
To reach Nallur Sivan Kovil by tuk-tuk, you can easily hail one from any location in Jaffna. Tell the driver you want to go to Nallur Sivan Kovil. The ride from Jaffna Fort should take about 10 minutes. The driver will take you along Kandy Road, heading south, and will turn onto Hospital Road. They will drop you off right in front of the temple. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Public Bus
To take a public bus to Nallur Sivan Kovil, start at the main bus station in Jaffna. Look for buses heading towards Nallur. Board the bus and stay on for about 20 minutes. Make sure to notify the conductor that you want to get off at Nallur Sivan Kovil. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to the temple. From there, it’s a short walk to the temple itself.
