If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Kandy. Head south on the A26 road towards Peradeniya. Continue on the A26 for approximately 8 km until you reach the Wadiyagoda area. Once you reach Wadiyagoda, look for signs pointing towards the Gurugaloya Dam. Follow the local roads that lead towards the dam, which is located around 2 km from the main road. Parking is usually available near the dam.

To reach Gurugaloya Dam using public transportation, take a bus from Kandy to Wadiyagoda. Buses leave frequently from Kandy Central Bus Station. The fare is approximately 50 LKR, and the journey takes around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Wadiyagoda, you might need to take a tuk-tuk or walk approximately 2 km to reach the dam. Tuk-tuk fares can vary but typically cost around 200-300 LKR.
