Car
If you're traveling by car from Kandy, head east on the A26 road towards Gampola. Continue on this route for approximately 14 kilometers until you reach the town of Gampola. In Gampola, take a left turn onto the B99 road, which will lead you towards Elkaduwa. Drive along the B99 for about 10 kilometers. As you approach Elkaduwa, keep an eye out for the sign for Themali Kaan Waterfall. You will need to navigate onto a smaller road (the location is marked as 9MVR+XR3, Lower Division, Hunasgiriya Group, Elkaduwa). Park your vehicle at the designated parking area and prepare for a short hike to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
To reach Themali Kaan Waterfall via public transport, start at the Kandy Bus Station. Take a bus to Gampola, which should cost around 50 LKR and take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Gampola, transfer to a bus heading to Elkaduwa. This bus journey will take approximately 20 minutes and may cost around 30 LKR. After reaching Elkaduwa, you will need to ask locals for directions to the waterfall as the final stretch involves a short walk to the site. Alternatively, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Elkaduwa to take you directly to the waterfall, which could cost around 200-500 LKR depending on negotiation.
