Car
If you're driving from Kitulgala, start by heading east on the A7 road towards the town of Aranayaka. Continue on the A7 for approximately 8 kilometers until you reach a junction. Take a left turn onto the Aranayaka - Ambalakanda - Dolosbage Road (this road may not be well-marked, so use a GPS or map). After about 4 kilometers, you will see a sign for 'Dothaloya Waterfall View Point.' Follow the signs and park at the designated area nearby. The viewpoint is a short hike from the parking area.
Public Transportation
From Kitulgala, take a local bus heading towards Aranayaka. This journey will take about 30 minutes. Inform the bus driver that you wish to get off at the junction for the Aranayaka - Ambalakanda - Dolosbage Road. Once you disembark, you will need to walk approximately 4 kilometers along the road. It is advisable to have a map or GPS on your phone to navigate to the Dothaloya Waterfall View Point, as the trail can be a bit tricky to find.
Walking
If you're adventurous and enjoy walking, once you reach the parking area near Dothaloya Waterfall View Point, there is a short hiking trail leading to the viewpoint. The hike is moderately easy and takes about 15-20 minutes. The path can be steep in certain areas, so wear appropriate footwear and carry water with you.
