If you are travelling by car, head towards the town of Hunnasgiriya from your current location in the Knuckles Mountain Range. Once you reach Hunnasgiriya, follow the signs towards the Lakegala trailhead. You will need to take the Hunnasgiriya Road and then follow the dirt road leading to Lakegala. Keep an eye out for a small sign indicating the Lakegala trail. The final stretch will require careful navigation on unpaved roads, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Parking is available at the trailhead, but ensure to arrive early as it can get crowded.

To reach Lakegala using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Kandy to Hunnasgiriya. Buses frequently depart from the Kandy bus station, and the fare is approximately LKR 100-150.
