Car
If you are driving from Kandy, take the A1 road towards Matale. Continue on this road until you reach the turn-off to the A26 towards Rattota. Follow the A26 for about 20 km until you reach the village of Rattota. From Rattota, take the B435 road towards Knuckles Mountain Range. After approximately 15 km, you will see signs for Pettigala. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at Bambaragala Temple in Pettigala. Parking is available nearby.
Public Transportation
From Kandy, take a bus to Matale. Buses leave frequently from the Kandy bus station and the fare is typically around 100 LKR. Once in Matale, transfer to a bus heading towards Rattota. After arriving in Rattota, take a local bus or a tuk-tuk to the B435 road leading to Pettigala. The fare for the tuk-tuk from Rattota to Pettigala should be negotiated, usually around 500-700 LKR. Inform the driver to drop you at Bambaragala Temple, your destination.
Hiking
If you are already within the Knuckles Mountain Range area, you can hike to Pettigala Kandy. Start from the nearest trailhead and follow the signs towards Bambaragala Temple. The hike can take about 1-2 hours depending on your starting point and pace. Ensure you are well-equipped with water and snacks, and consider hiring a local guide if you are unfamiliar with the area.
