Car
Start from Matale town center. Head southwest on the A9 road towards Kandy. After approximately 22 km, take a left onto the A10 road towards Dambulla. Continue for about 7 km until you reach the turnoff for Pitawala Pathana. Follow the signs to the Pitawala Nature Trail. Parking is available near the trail entrance. Note that the road conditions may vary, so drive cautiously.
Public Transportation
From Matale town, take a bus heading towards Kandy on the A9 road. Get down at the Dambulla junction (around 22 km). From there, catch a local bus or a three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) to Pitawala Pathana, which is approximately 7 km away. The bus fare should be around LKR 50-100, and a tuk-tuk may cost around LKR 300-500 depending on negotiation. Once at the trail entrance, you will need to pay a small entrance fee of LKR 100.
Taxi or Ride-Sharing
If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi or using a ride-sharing app. You can book a taxi in Matale, and the driver will take you directly to Pitawala Nature Trail. The fare should range from LKR 1500 to LKR 2500 depending on your negotiation skills and the time of day. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
