Experience Blue Beach

Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Matara bus station, exit and head towards the main road (Galle Road). Walk south along Galle Road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several shops and eateries. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Nilwella. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Nilwella Road. Turn right onto Nilwella Road and walk for about 500 meters until you reach the beach entrance. Blue Beach Island will be on your left.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From anywhere in Matara, you can hire a tuk-tuk. Tell the driver to take you to Blue Beach Island, Nilwella. The journey should take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey, and you can expect to pay around 300-500 LKR. The driver will drop you off at the entrance to the beach.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Matara. From the rental shop, head towards Galle Road and ride south for about 1.5 kilometers. Make a right turn onto Nilwella Road and continue for another 500 meters. You will arrive at Blue Beach Island on your left. Be cautious of the traffic on Galle Road.
