Getting There

Once you are inside Horton Plains National Park, head towards the main trailhead at the visitor center. From there, follow the clearly marked path leading to the various viewpoints. To reach Mountain View Point, continue along the main loop trail, which is well-maintained and easy to navigate. The distance to Mountain View Point is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the visitor center. Keep an eye out for directional signage along the trail, which will guide you to your destination. The walk usually takes about 30 minutes to reach the viewpoint.

If you have driven to Horton Plains National Park, park your vehicle at the designated parking area near the visitor center. From the parking area, follow the walking trail indicated by signage. There are no direct car routes to Mountain View Point; walking is the only option from the parking area. The hike to Mountain View Point will take around 30 minutes. Ensure you pay the entrance fee to the park, which is approximately LKR 2,500 for foreign visitors.

To reach Horton Plains National Park via public transportation, take a bus from Nuwara Eliya to the park entrance. Buses run regularly, and the fare is around LKR 100. Once you arrive, pay the entrance fee before proceeding. After entering the park, follow the same walking route as described for those arriving by car, which is a 1.5-kilometer hike to Mountain View Point. Allow about 30 minutes for the walk.
