Walking
From the center of Polonnaruwa, head northeast on Main Street (Galle Road) towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the Polonnaruwa - Minneriya Road. Continue straight for about 10 kilometers. You will pass by several small shops and local eateries along the way. Look for the signs pointing toward Minneriya National Park. Once you reach the park entrance, pay the entrance fee, and you can explore inside. The area is famous for its elephants.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Polonnaruwa. Start on Main Street and ride northeast towards the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the Polonnaruwa - Minneriya Road. The route is approximately 10 kilometers long and is relatively flat, making it a pleasant ride. Along the way, you may stop at local shops for refreshments. When you arrive at Minneriya National Park, lock your bike at the entrance and proceed to explore the park.

Tuk-Tuk
To get to Minneriya by tuk-tuk, find a tuk-tuk stand in the central area of Polonnaruwa. Negotiate the fare with the driver before you start your journey. Tell the driver you want to go to Minneriya National Park. The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Enjoy the scenic views on the way, and ask the driver about any interesting spots you might pass. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can pay the entrance fee to start your adventure.
