Getting There

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your accommodation in Sigiriya, head to the nearest main road. Look for a tuk-tuk stand or flag down a passing tuk-tuk. Inform the driver that you want to go to Minneriya National Park for the Elephants Village Safari. The driver will take you along the A1 road towards Habarana, approximately 20 km away. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Upon arrival, the driver can drop you off at the entrance of the park.

  • Bus

    Walk to the Sigiriya bus station, which is near the main entrance to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Look for a bus heading to Habarana. Buses typically run every 30 minutes, and the fare is very inexpensive. Once you reach Habarana, you can either take a tuk-tuk or walk to the Minneriya National Park entrance, which is about 7 km away. If taking a tuk-tuk, simply tell the driver your destination, and they will take you directly to the park.

  • Bicycle Rental

    If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Sigiriya. Cycle towards Habarana on the A1 road, enjoying the scenic views along the way. It’s approximately a 20 km ride, so plan for about 1-1.5 hours of cycling. Once you reach Habarana, you can either continue cycling to Minneriya National Park or take a tuk-tuk for the remaining distance.
