Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Sigiriya, head north towards the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. You will see the entrance to the Sigiriya Archaeological Museum on your right. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers along the main road, which is well-marked. Keep an eye out for signs directing towards Polonnaruwa. As you walk, enjoy the lush greenery and local wildlife. After approximately 30-40 minutes, you will reach a junction. Take the left road at the junction and continue for another 1 kilometer until you reach Vatadage, which will be on your left side.

  • Bicycle

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Sigiriya. Start from the main square in Sigiriya and head towards the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Follow the same route as the walking directions, but cycling will allow you to reach Vatadage in about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on the road and watch for incoming traffic, especially as you approach the junction.
