Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Unawatuna Beach area. Head north along the main road, passing by various shops and eateries. Continue walking for about 2 kilometers until you reach a junction with a traffic circle. At the traffic circle, take the first exit onto Galle Road (A2). Keep walking straight for approximately 1 kilometer. You will see the Galle Fort entrance on your left. Enter through the fort and walk along the ramparts until you reach the Galle Lighthouse, which is located at the western tip of the fort.

  • Tuk Tuk

    From any location in Unawatuna, flag down a tuk-tuk and tell the driver you want to go to Galle Lighthouse. The ride will take around 15 minutes. The driver will take you along Galle Road (A2). Once you arrive near the Galle Fort, you can walk to the lighthouse, which is within the fort area.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Unawatuna. Start your ride heading north on the main road. Maintain a straight path for about 2 kilometers until you reach the traffic circle. At the circle, take the first exit onto Galle Road (A2) and continue for another kilometer. You will arrive at the Galle Fort entrance. Park your bicycle outside the fort and take a short walk to the Galle Lighthouse located at the western edge of the fort.
