Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start by getting onto the Colombo-Kandy Road (A1) from your location in Western Province. Follow the A1 towards Gampaha. Once you reach Gampaha, look for Gampaha Rd and take a right turn onto it. Continue driving straight on Gampaha Rd for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach Pethiyagoda. Look for signs to Sri Sambodhi Viharaya, which will be on your left. There is parking available near the temple.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Sri Sambodhi Viharaya using public transportation, look for a bus that travels along the Colombo-Kandy Road (A1) towards Gampaha. You can catch these buses from major bus stations or bus stops in Western Province. After approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on your starting point, get off at the Gampaha bus stop. From there, you can either take a tuk-tuk or walk. For walking, head to Gampaha Rd and continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach Pethiyagoda. The temple will be on your left. Tuk-tuk fares may vary, but expect to pay around 200-300 LKR for the short ride.

• Taxi

  You can also use a taxi service from your location in Western Province to Sri Sambodhi Viharaya. Book a taxi through a ride-hailing app or ask your hotel for assistance. Provide the driver with the address: Sri Sambodhi Viharaya, Gampaha Rd, Pethiyagoda. The fare will depend on your starting point but expect it to be higher than public transport, typically around 1,000 LKR or more. The trip should take about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
