Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Gampaha town center and head north on the A1 highway. Continue straight for approximately 10 km until you reach Veyangoda. As you enter Veyangoda, look for the sign for Sri Jayawardhanaramaya on your left. Turn left onto the lane leading to the temple. There is parking available near the temple entrance.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  To reach Sri Jayawardhanaramaya by public bus, go to the Gampaha bus station. Take a bus heading towards Veyangoda; these buses are frequent and should run every 10-15 minutes. The bus fare is typically around 30-50 LKR. After approximately 30 minutes, alight at the Veyangoda bus stop. From the bus stop, walk back a short distance and look for the sign directing you to Sri Jayawardhanaramaya, which is only about a 10-minute walk away.

• Tuk-Tuk

  For a more comfortable and quicker option, consider taking a tuk-tuk from Gampaha to Sri Jayawardhanaramaya. Tuk-tuks are readily available in the town and can be hired for a fare of approximately 500-1000 LKR, depending on your negotiation skills. The ride takes about 15-20 minutes. Make sure to confirm the destination with the driver before starting your journey.

• Combination - Train and Walk

  If you are near the train station in Gampaha, take a train towards Veyangoda. The train ride lasts about 15 minutes and costs around 50 LKR. Once you arrive at the Veyangoda train station, exit the station and walk towards the main road. Turn right and walk for about 1 km until you see the signs for Sri Jayawardhanaramaya. The total travel time including walking is approximately 30-40 minutes.
