From the center of Östersund, drive south on Route 87 for about 8 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 87E. Take Route 87E south for another 4 kilometers, then exit onto Route 87 toward Brunflo. Continue on Route 87 for 6 kilometers until you arrive in Brunflo. From the center of Brunflo, follow signs for Bye kalkbarrskog. The reserve is located approximately 2 kilometers from the center of Brunflo, at the address 834 98 Brunflo. There are no parking fees at the reserve.
Public Transportation
To reach Bye kalkbarrskog via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Östersund to Brunflo. You can catch a bus from the Östersund bus station; Line 120 operates this route, and the journey takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Brunflo bus station, you will need to walk about 2 kilometers to the reserve. Follow the signs for Bye kalkbarrskog or use a map application on your phone for navigation. Note that bus tickets will cost around 40 SEK for a one-way trip.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Östersund and take the same route as driving. Head south on Route 87, following the bike lanes where available. The distance from Östersund to Brunflo is approximately 14 kilometers. Once you reach Brunflo, continue towards Bye kalkbarrskog, which is about 2 kilometers away.
