The story of Flight Museum F 21 begins in 1941, when Norrbottens Flygbaskår was established on Kallaxheden following a massive forest fire that cleared land for Sweden's northernmost airfield. Initially a base for southern squadrons rotating north, it housed light liaison planes like the S9 and an early air ambulance.
