The skatepark was created under the guidance of Janne Saario, a designer with a background in professional skateboarding and landscape architecture, which shows in the park’s balance between technical challenge and rideability. Street sections flank the bowls, offering both low rails and larger gaps; the variety accommodates newcomers learning basics as well as experienced riders seeking complex lines and speed. The materials are hard-wearing concrete shaped into bowls and transitions that emphasise flow and rhythm.

Surrounding the skate area, Drottningparken includes grassy stretches and a conventional children’s play area, giving the site a mixed recreational character. The green edges soften the concrete center and create pockets for picnics, spectating and informal socialising. The park is an alcohol-free zone and has rules that manage which wheeled activities are permitted at certain times, reflecting its role as a municipal activity arena.

Users are asked to avoid glass and to observe the park’s alcohol-free policy; smoking is discouraged in the skate area.
