Poseidon
Poseidon (Poseidonstatyn), Götaplatsen, Gothenburg
An elegant, stone‑terraced cultural square crowned by Carl Milles’ Poseidon and surrounded by Gothenburg’s main arts institutions.
Götaplatsen is Gothenburg’s formal cultural square at the southern end of Avenyn, framed by the Gothenburg Museum of Art, Concert Hall, City Theatre and public library and anchored by Carl Milles’ bronze Poseidon. Laid out for the 1923 exhibition, its light stone terraces, broad steps and sculptural fountain create an open plaza for festivals, open-air concerts and everyday people-watching in the city’s cultural quarter.

Tram
Tram service from central Gothenburg (urban tram) — typical journey time 8–15 minutes from central tram hubs; trams run frequently but check local timetables for evening service; a single tram fare in the city is charged per trip and is paid via ticket machines or contactless payment on board (expect around 30–40 SEK per adult depending on fare zone).
Walking
On-foot approach from the city centre — typical duration 10–25 minutes depending on start point; terrain is paved city streets and broad boulevards with steps at the square (some stair sections affect wheelchair access); no fee required.
Taxi / Rideshare
Taxi or rideshare from central areas — typical travel time 5–15 minutes depending on traffic; drop-off close to the square is straightforward though parking is limited nearby; expect fares from about 120–220 SEK within the central zone depending on time and company.
