Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Marktplatz in Old Town, head east on Market Street (Marktgasse) towards the Cathedral (Basler Münster). Continue straight until you reach the Rhine River. Once you reach the river, turn left and walk along the riverbank. Continue walking for about 15 minutes until you reach the St. Johanns-Vorstadt area. St. Johanns-Tor will be directly in front of you, marked by its iconic archway.

  • Tram

    From the Rathaus (Town Hall) tram stop, take tram number 10 or 8 heading towards 'Riehen' or 'Basel, Bahnhof SBB'. Get off at 'Schifflände' stop. From there, walk along the Rhine River for about 10 minutes until you reach St. Johanns-Vorstadt. St. Johanns-Tor will be on your right. The tram ticket costs approximately CHF 3.50.
