Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Zermatt, head to the Bahnhofplatz (train station square). From there, take the main street, Bahnhofstrasse, heading towards the Matterhorn. Continue walking straight on this road for about 15 minutes until you reach the end of the street. Follow the signs towards the Zermatt cable cars, which will lead you to the Sunnegga funicular railway station.

  • Cable Car

    Once you arrive at the Sunnegga station, purchase a ticket for the cable car. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After arriving at Sunnegga, follow the signs to Stellisee, which is about a 30-minute hike from the station. The path is well-marked and will lead you through beautiful alpine scenery.

  • Hiking

    After you arrive at Stellisee, you’ll find yourself surrounded by breathtaking views. Make sure to take your time hiking and enjoy the spectacular scenery, including views of the Matterhorn reflected in the lake. The trail back to Zermatt from Stellisee can be followed in reverse, or you can opt to return to Sunnegga and take the funicular back down.
