From any location in Coastal Zone, you will need to take the A7 road heading south towards the town of Mikindani, then continue on the A7 until you reach the junction for the ferry terminal that serves Mafia Island. The ferry terminal is located in a town called Tanga. Keep in mind that parking is available at the ferry terminal.

    Public Transportation (Bus)

    For those opting for public transportation, take a bus from any major bus station in Coastal Zone to Tanga. Buses frequently depart throughout the day and the journey typically takes around 5-7 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Tanga, you will need to find transport to the ferry terminal. Look for local taxis or ask the bus staff for directions to the ferry terminal. Expect to pay a small fare for the taxi, around 10,000-20,000 TZS.
