Getting There

Car
If you are driving from Arusha, take the A104 road towards Moshi. After approximately 90 kilometers, turn left onto the B144 road, which leads directly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will pass through the town of Karatu before reaching the entrance to the conservation area. Be prepared for a scenic but winding drive as you approach the Ngorongoro Crater.

From Arusha, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) to Karatu. Matatus leave from the Arusha bus station and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
