Getting There

Car

If you are driving from Arusha, take the A104 road towards Moshi. After approximately 90 kilometers, turn left onto the B144 road, which leads directly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will pass through the town of Karatu before reaching the entrance to the conservation area. Be prepared for a scenic but winding drive as you approach the Ngorongoro Crater.
Public Transportation (Matatu)

From Arusha, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) to Karatu. Matatus leave from the Arusha bus station and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Karatu, you can hire a taxi or join a tour group that can take you to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance. Ensure you confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Public Transportation (Bus)

Buses from Arusha to Karatu are available from the central bus station. The trip takes around 2 hours. Upon arrival at Karatu, you can catch a taxi or join a tour group to reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance. It’s advisable to check the bus schedule in advance to plan your trip accordingly.
