Getting There

    Start at the central market in Kigoma, which is a known landmark. From the market, head east on Ujiji Road. Continue straight for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with the main road, which is called the Kigoma-Bujumbura Road. At this intersection, turn left and continue walking for about 500 meters. You will see a sign for Soko Marungu on your right. Follow the path leading to the night market.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, begin at the waterfront area of Kigoma. Cycle north along the lakeside road until you reach the junction with Ujiji Road. Turn left onto Ujiji Road and ride east for about 1 kilometer. When you reach the intersection with the Kigoma-Bujumbura Road, turn left and continue for another 500 meters. Look out for the sign for Soko Marungu on your right-hand side, and follow the access path to the market.

  • Public Transport (Boda Boda)

    From your location in Kigoma, find a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) stand, which are typically located near the central market or popular gathering points. Inform the driver that you want to go to Soko Marungu. The driver will take you along the Ujiji Road, passing local shops and residences. After about 10 minutes of travel, they will drop you off near the entrance of Soko Marungu, which is indicated by local signage.
