Walking
Start from the Mbeya city center, near the Mbeya Market. Head south on Sokoine Road. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with Maji Mazuri Road. Turn left onto Maji Mazuri Road and follow it for approximately 2 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and residential areas. After 2 kilometers, you’ll reach a roundabout. Take the first exit onto the road leading to the Idunda area. Walk for another 3 kilometers. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Idunda Water Reserve. The reserve is located just off the main road, look for a small trail leading into the reserve.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Mbeya. Start at the Mbeya Market and head south on Sokoine Road. Continue for 1 kilometer until you reach the Maji Mazuri Road junction. Turn left and bike straight for about 2 kilometers. After the roundabout, take the first exit onto the road leading to Idunda. Follow this road for approximately 3 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Idunda Water Reserve. The entrance will be marked, and you can lock your bike at the nearby area before entering the reserve.
Public Transport (Daladala)
From the Mbeya city center, find a daladala (minibus) heading towards Idunda or the surrounding area. Board the daladala and ask the conductor to drop you off at the nearest stop to Idunda Water Reserve. This usually takes about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Once you get off, walk towards the main road and look for the signs for Idunda Water Reserve. It should be a short walk from there, approximately 500 meters.
