From Ruaha National Park, begin your journey by driving towards the nearest major town, Iringa. Once in Iringa, take the A7 road heading towards Dodoma. After approximately 115 km, take the exit towards Dar es Salaam on the A7 road. Continue on this road for about 500 km until you reach the outskirts of Dar es Salaam. Follow signs towards the city center.

If you are using public transport, take a bus from Ruaha National Park to Iringa. From Iringa, find a bus that goes to Dar es Salaam. The journey can take several hours, so ensure you check the bus schedules in advance. Once in Dar es Salaam, you can take a taxi or use a ride-hailing app to reach the ferry terminal.

After reaching Dar es Salaam, head to the ferry terminal located at the waterfront. The most common ferry to Mbudya Marine Reserve departs from the terminal. Purchase a ticket at the terminal; costs may vary but typically range from 20,000 to 30,000 TZS for a round trip. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes to reach Mbudya Island.
