    Start at the center of Zanzibar City, near the Old Fort. Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops around the area. Head southeast on Gizenga Street, which will lead you out of the city. Continue straight until you reach the main road leading to Jozani Forest. Follow the signs for Jozani Forest, which will be on your left. The ride is approximately 30 minutes.

  • Walking

    Begin your journey at the Old Fort in the center of Zanzibar City. Walk south along Kenyatta Road until you reach the junction with Mkolani Road. Turn right onto Mkolani Road and continue straight until you reach the main road. From there, walk eastwards towards Jozani Forest. This route is quite long and may take over 2 hours, so be prepared for a scenic walk.

  • Public Transport (Dala Dala)

    From the center of Zanzibar City, head to the Dala Dala stand located near the Old Fort. Look for a Dala Dala heading towards Jozani Forest or the direction of Mapopwe. Board the Dala Dala and pay the fare (usually a few hundred shillings). The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you reach the Jozani Forest entrance, disembark and follow the signs to the visitor center.

  • Taxi (Shared Taxi)
