Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the iconic Darajani Market, a bustling hub in Stone Town. Head south on Mkunazini Street, which is located adjacent to the market. Walk straight for about 600 meters until you reach the junction with Kenyatta Road. Turn left onto Kenyatta Road. Continue walking for another 300 meters until you see the entrance to the Christ Church Cathedral on your right. The cathedral is easily recognizable by its tall bell tower and beautiful architecture.

    If you are starting from the Forodhani Gardens, exit the gardens and turn left onto the main road, which is called Kisiwa Street. Walk straight towards the Old Fort, keeping the fort on your left. Continue walking until you reach the junction with Mkunazini Street. Turn right onto Mkunazini Street and walk for about 400 meters. At the next major junction, turn left onto Kenyatta Road. Continue for about 300 meters, and you will find the Christ Church Cathedral on your right.

    From the House of Wonders, walk straight down the seafront promenade (Soko Muhogo Road) towards the Old Fort. Once you reach the Old Fort, turn right and head towards Mkunazini Street. Walk along Mkunazini Street for about 600 meters. When you reach the junction with Kenyatta Road, turn left. After about 300 meters, the Christ Church Cathedral will be on your right.
