Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the heart of Stone Town, make your way to the Forodhani Gardens near the waterfront. From the gardens, head towards the old fort (Ngome Kongwe) which is a well-known landmark. Once you reach the fort, walk along the street that runs parallel to the water, known as Mizingani Road. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with the street named Kenyatta Road. Turn left onto Kenyatta Road and walk straight. You will pass several shops and cafes on your way. After about 5 minutes, you will see a small road on your right leading to Mnara Mosque. Follow that road, and you will arrive at the mosque shortly.

If you are near the Darajani Market, exit the market and head towards the main road, which is called Mkunazini Road. Walk along Mkunazini Road until you reach the intersection with Mizingani Road. At this intersection, turn right onto Mizingani Road and continue walking until you reach the Old Fort. From there, follow the previous directions to reach Mnara Mosque.

If you are at the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) venue, head south towards the waterfront. Once you reach Mizingani Road, take a left and head towards the Old Fort. Upon reaching the Old Fort, continue as described above to find Mnara Mosque.
