Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the heart of Stone Town, make your way to the Forodhani Gardens, located along the waterfront. From the gardens, head south on Kenyatta Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Mkunazini Street. Turn left onto Mkunazini Street and walk for about 500 meters. You will see a sign for St. Joseph's Cathedral on your right. The cathedral is located at R5PQ+VF9, Cathedral St. The entire walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

    If you are near the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe), exit the fort and head southeast on Mizingani Road along the coast. Continue walking along the road until you reach the intersection with the Zanzibar Ferry Terminal. From there, turn left onto Creek Road and walk for about 300 meters. You will see Cathedral Street on your right. Turn onto Cathedral Street, and St. Joseph's Cathedral will be on your left. The walk will take around 10-15 minutes.
