Begin your journey in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. From the center of Gatlinburg, head southeast on US-441 S (the main road through the park) and follow the signs for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. After approximately 5 miles, turn left onto Little River Road, which will lead you deeper into the park. Continue on Little River Road for about 7 miles until you reach the parking area for the Middle Prong Trailhead, which is located on the right-hand side of the road. There is no fee for parking at this trailhead.

Once you have parked at the Middle Prong Trailhead, begin your hike on the Middle Prong Trail. The trailhead is well-marked, and the trail starts directly from the parking area.
