Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by getting onto I-35 S from your location in Central Texas. Follow I-35 S to exit 234A toward 15th St/US-290W. Merge onto W 15th St and continue until you reach TX-1 Loop S. Take the TX-1 Loop S exit toward Bee Caves Rd/Austin. Continue on TX-1 Loop S, then take the exit for Bee Caves Rd. Follow Bee Caves Rd to S Lamar Blvd, then turn left onto S Lamar Blvd. After a short drive, turn right onto Nature Center Dr and follow it to the Zilker Nature Preserve entrance at 301 Nature Center Dr, Austin, TX 78746. Parking is available, but be aware that it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin your journey by taking a Capital Metro bus to downtown Austin. From there, transfer to the 30 or 3 bus routes, which will take you towards the Zilker area. Get off at the stop closest to the intersection of S Lamar Blvd and Nature Center Dr. Walk approximately 0.5 miles down Nature Center Dr to reach Zilker Nature Preserve. Make sure to check the Capital Metro website for the latest schedule and fare information.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, there are dedicated bike lanes in parts of Austin. You can use the Capital Metro's bike racks if you take public transport to get closer to the preserve. From downtown, follow the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake, which connects to Zilker Nature Preserve. This scenic route is about 2 miles and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Ensure your bike is in good condition and check for any local bike rental options if you don’t have your own.

• Walking

  For those staying close to the area, Zilker Nature Preserve is pedestrian-friendly. If you're in the vicinity of Barton Springs Pool or Zilker Park, simply walk along Nature Center Dr to the preserve at 301 Nature Center Dr, Austin, TX 78746. The walking path is well-marked, and it's a lovely stroll through the park area.
