Getting There

• MetroRail

  If you're starting from downtown Houston, take the MetroRail from the Main Street Square station on the Red Line. Board the train heading towards the Northline Transit Center and ride for about 5 stops until you reach the 'Wheeler' station. At Wheeler station, transfer to the Green Line towards the 'Theatre District' and continue for 3 stops until you reach the 'Hermann Park/Rice U' station. From there, you will need to take a bus or a rideshare to reach the Cistern.

• Bus

  From the 'Hermann Park/Rice U' station, catch the Metro Bus #75 (West Loop) from the bus stop right outside the station. Ride for 5 stops and get off at the 'Shepherd Dr @ Washington Ave' stop. After you disembark, walk east on Washington Avenue for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Sabine Street. Turn left onto Sabine Street, and the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern will be on your left at 105-B Sabine St.

• Bicycle

  If you're comfortable biking, you can rent a bike using a ride-share bike service available in downtown Houston. Start at the Main Street area and head west towards Buffalo Bayou Park. Follow the bike paths along the bayou, which will lead you directly to the Cistern. It’s approximately a 15-minute ride, and you’ll enjoy scenic views of the park along the way.

• Walking

  If you're already near Buffalo Bayou Park, you can walk to the Cistern easily. From the park entrance at Allen Parkway, head towards the Sabine Street Bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left onto Sabine Street. Walk along Sabine Street for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at 105-B Sabine St, where the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is located.
