Getting There

• Public Transit - Metro Rail

  If you are near a Metro Rail station, board the Red Line train towards the Northline Transit Center. If you are starting from downtown Houston, you can find the closest Metro Rail station at Main St. and Walker St. Once on the Red Line, stay on the train for about 5 stops and get off at the 'McGowen' station. After exiting the train, head south on Main St. until you reach the intersection with Smith St. Turn right onto Smith St. and continue walking. Kirby Mansion will be on your left at 2006 Smith St.

• Public Transit - Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, locate the nearest bus stop and check the schedule for routes that head towards Midtown. One common route is the 36 Bus, which travels through the downtown area. Board the bus and request a stop at 'Smith St. at Gray St.'. After disembarking, walk south on Smith St. for a few blocks. Kirby Mansion will be located on your left at 2006 Smith St.

• Walking

  If you are staying nearby in Midtown, you can walk to Kirby Mansion. Start by heading south on any main street towards Smith St. Once you reach Smith St., turn left and continue walking. Keep an eye on the buildings; Kirby Mansion is located at 2006 Smith St. The walk should take around 15-20 minutes depending on your starting point.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, Houston has bike lanes that can lead you to Kirby Mansion. If you are near a bike rental station, rent a bike and head towards Midtown. Follow the bike lanes to Smith St., then ride south until you reach 2006 Smith St. There is usually bike parking available near historical landmarks.
