Walking
If you are already inside McKinney Falls State Park, you can reach Smith Rock Shelter on foot. Begin at the main park entrance and head towards the Lower Falls Trailhead. Follow the Lower Falls Trail, which is clearly marked. After about half a mile, you will reach a fork in the trail. Keep left to stay on the Lower Falls Trail. Continue for another quarter-mile until you see signs directing you to Smith Rock Shelter. The shelter is a short walk from the trail, located in a scenic area perfect for a picnic.
