Walking
From the entrance of McKinney Falls State Park, head towards the park's main road, which is Park Road 1A. Walk along this road; it is well-marked and leads you towards the Upper Falls. Continue for about 0.7 miles, and you will see signs indicating the direction to Upper McKinney Falls. The trailhead is located on the left side of the road. Follow the trail marked for Upper McKinney Falls, which will take you through beautiful scenery.
Biking
If you have a bike, you can ride along Park Road 1A. Start from the park entrance and follow the road for approximately 0.7 miles. Look for signs that point towards Upper McKinney Falls on your left. The bike ride is enjoyable and offers scenic views along the way. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow the park's biking rules.
Car
If you are using a car, enter McKinney Falls State Park and drive to the main parking area. Once you park, you’ll need to walk towards the main park road, Park Road 1A. From there, walk about 0.7 miles along the road, following the signs for Upper McKinney Falls. There are no additional parking fees required once you enter the park, but note that there is an entrance fee for vehicles, which is currently $6 per person for the day.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, take a Capital Metro bus (Route 20) to the nearest stop to the park entrance. Once you arrive, walk approximately 1 mile to reach the entrance of McKinney Falls State Park. After entering the park, follow the same directions as the car route: walk along Park Road 1A for about 0.7 miles towards Upper McKinney Falls. Note that bus fares vary, so check the Capital Metro website for the latest pricing.
