Car
If you are driving from the center of Doi Inthanon, head south on Highway 1009. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers. Look for a sign indicating the Thai National Observatory, which is located on a road branching off to the left. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the observatory, which will be on your right. There is no entry fee for visiting the observatory, but check ahead for any specific visitor guidelines.
Public Transportation
To reach the Thai National Observatory using public transportation, start by taking a songthaew (shared taxi) from Doi Inthanon to Mae Chaem. Inform the driver that you wish to go to the Thai National Observatory. The ride will take about 30 minutes, and the fare is typically around 50-100 THB per person. Once you reach Mae Chaem, you may need to hire a local taxi or motorbike to cover the last 5 kilometers to the observatory. Ensure to negotiate the fare in advance, as it can vary.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Doi Inthanon to the Thai National Observatory. The trip will take approximately 30-40 minutes and should cost around 400-600 THB, depending on your negotiation skills and the taxi service.
