Travel Guide to Pai Canyon

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Pai town. Head east on Route 1095, the main road connecting Pai to other towns in Northern Thailand. After approximately 8 km, look for signs directing you to Pai Canyon, which is located on the left side of the road. Turn left onto the access road, which leads you directly to the parking area near the canyon entrance. Parking is available for free.

• Public Bus

  If you prefer public transportation, take a local bus or minivan from Chiang Mai to Pai. Buses leave from the Arcade Bus Station in Chiang Mai and the journey takes about 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Pai, you can rent a scooter or hire a songthaew (shared taxi) to Pai Canyon. The songthaew ride will cost approximately 100-200 THB per person and takes around 20 minutes to reach the canyon.

• Scooter Rental

  For an adventurous option, rent a scooter in Pai. Rental shops are plentiful and the cost is typically around 150-300 THB per day. Once you have your scooter, head out of Pai town towards Route 1095. Follow the same directions as if you were driving a car. Be cautious as the road can be winding and steep. Ensure you wear a helmet and have an international driving permit.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Pai Canyon, you may consider walking. From the town center, it is approximately a 5 km walk to the canyon. Follow the main road (Route 1095) and then take the access road leading to the canyon. This is a scenic route but be prepared for some heat, especially midday.
