Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Banjul ferry terminal, exit the terminal and head east towards the main road (Liberation Avenue). Turn right onto Liberation Avenue and walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Kairaba Avenue. Continue walking straight for approximately 15 minutes until you see the signs for Portuguese Town. Turn left onto the road leading to Portuguese Town. The Roman Catholic Cathedral will be on your right after a short walk.

    If you are near the Independence Stadium, exit the stadium and head south towards the main road (Kairaba Avenue). Turn right onto Kairaba Avenue and walk towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit and continue walking straight. After about 20 minutes, look for the turn-off to Portuguese Town on your left. Take this turn and walk for about 5 minutes until you reach the Roman Catholic Cathedral on your right.
