Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Brikama, head north towards the main road (Banjul-Brikama Highway). Walk along the highway until you reach the junction for the ferry terminal in Barra. This will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Keep an eye out for local signs pointing towards Barra. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Barra Point. The ferry ride takes about 15-20 minutes. Upon arrival at Barra, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to Fort Bullen, following the main road until you see the historical landmark on your right.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Brikama and head north towards the Banjul-Brikama Highway. Follow the highway until you reach the ferry terminal in Barra. This ride should take around 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, secure your bicycle and purchase a ticket for the ferry to Barra Point. After about 15-20 minutes on the ferry, you will arrive at Barra. From the ferry terminal, cycle approximately 1 kilometer along the main road to reach Fort Bullen, which will be on your right.

  • Public Transport (Bush Taxi)

    From Brikama, you can take a bush taxi heading to Barra. Head to the main taxi park in Brikama and look for a bush taxi that is going to Barra. The ride should take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Barra, you can either walk or take a local taxi to Fort Bullen, which is about 1 kilometer from the main road. If walking, follow the main road until you see the fort on your right. If taking a local taxi, simply inform the driver that you want to go to Fort Bullen.
