Car
From Sami, head southwest on the main road towards the town of Bafuloto. Continue driving for approximately 15 kilometers. As you approach Bafuloto, look for signage directing you towards Makasutu. The entrance to the national park is located at the coordinates 13.310556, -16.616111. Once you arrive, there is typically a parking area available. Please note that entrance fees may apply.
Public Transportation (Bush Taxi)
Catch a bush taxi from the central market area in Sami heading towards Bafuloto. Ensure to confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near Makasutu. The journey should take approximately 30 minutes. Upon reaching Bafuloto, you may need to walk or hire a local taxi to reach the entrance of Makasutu. Be prepared for some costs; bush taxi fares are generally around 20-30 GMD.
Walking from Bafuloto
If you find yourself in Bafuloto after taking a bush taxi, you can walk to Makasutu. From the center of Bafuloto, head northwest for about 2 kilometers. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Makasutu. The walk will take about 30-40 minutes, and it's advisable to wear comfortable shoes.
