Car
From any location in the Plateaux Region, head towards the town of Atakpamé. Follow the main road leading to the south-west until you reach the junction for the N1 highway. Take the N1 heading towards Lomé. Continue on the N1 for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach the town of Mepe. Use a GPS or map application to navigate to the coordinates 5.9404° N, 0.7913° W. Once in Mepe, follow local signs directing you to Keta Lagoon Protected Area.
Public Transportation
Start by taking a shared taxi or bus from your location in the Plateaux Region to Atakpamé. From Atakpamé, look for a bus or shared taxi heading towards Lomé. Inform the driver that you want to get off in Mepe. The fare is typically around 2,000-3,000 CFA Francs. Once you arrive in Mepe, you can either walk or hire a local taxi to take you to Keta Lagoon Protected Area. Make sure to provide the driver with the coordinates (5.9404° N, 0.7913° W) for accurate navigation.
Bicycle
If you're adventurous and fit, you can cycle from Atakpamé to Mepe. Start from Atakpamé and follow the N1 highway towards Lomé. The distance is approximately 40 kilometers and can take around 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to carry water and snacks, as there may not be many stops along the way. Once in Mepe, navigate to Keta Lagoon Protected Area using the coordinates (5.9404° N, 0.7913° W).
