Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from St. George East, start on the Eastern Main Road heading west. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. Turn left onto the highway and follow the signs for Sangre Grande. Take the exit toward Sangre Grande and follow the road until you reach the village of Matura. From Matura, head toward the road leading to the Morne La Croix area, where you will find the access point to Mount Tucuche. Note that parking may be limited, so arrive early.

    To reach Mount Tucuche by public transport, catch a bus or maxi-taxi heading towards Sangre Grande from the main bus terminal in Port of Spain. Inform the driver that you would like to get off at Matura. Once in Matura, you can either walk (approximately 30 minutes) or hire a local taxi to take you closer to the trailhead of Mount Tucuche. It is advisable to agree on a fare before starting the taxi ride. The bus fare to Matura is generally around TT$20, while a taxi from Matura to the trailhead can cost around TT$50.
